How are Lansinoh Soothing C-Section Hydrogel Pads different from other C-section products?
Many other C-section products on the market are made from silicone, which is more focused on aesthetic scar care (including scar reduction treatments, reducing redness and discomfort, and improving the appearance and feel of scars). Silicone and hydrogels form an occlusive layer over the healing wound, meaning they form a protective layer on the skin’s surface and create a barrier to prevent moisture loss. However, while silicone is a passive barrier, Lansinoh pads are made from hydrogel, which has a unique polymer structure that allows it to release and absorb water and balance moisture levels. The high water content of hydrogel also means that they cool the area where they are used.
How often should I change Lansinoh Soothing C-Section Hydrogel Pads?
Lansinoh Post-Cesarean Pads can be used for up to 72 hours. After that, the pad should be removed and a new one applied. Once removed, the pad cannot be reapplied.
Can I use Lansinoh Soothing C-Section Hydrogel Pads if I am allergic to patches?
Lansinoh Soothing C-Section Hydrogel Pads are latex-free and DEHP-free. If you are concerned that you may be allergic to the patch, please consult your healthcare professional before use.
Do these soothing hydrogel pads for C-section contain latex?
No, Lansinoh soothing hydrogel pads for C-section are latex-free.
Can I use Lansinoh soothing hydrogel pads for C-section keloid or hypertrophic scars?
Yes, Lansinoh C-Section Hydrogel Pads are suitable for use on keloid and hypertrophic scars.
Directions for use:
Use from day 10 after surgery, when your midwife has assessed the incision to ensure it is clean, closed and dry to prevent infection. Before using the hydrogel pad, make sure the area is clean and dry. Open the pouch and remove the hydrogel pad, then peel off the protective paper on the side marked (1). Gently place the gel side of the pad directly over the closed incision. Apply the pad by massaging the area in a gentle outward motion from the center before removing the paper from the side marked (2). For an additional cooling effect, store unopened pads in the refrigerator before use.
To remove, hold the middle of the pad and gently pull the edge outward to loosen the adhesive. Continue pulling the edge, stretching outward (not upward) and in the direction of hair growth.
CAUTION: Use only as directed. Keep out of reach of children. For external use only. Suitable for use 10 days after delivery or when stitches or staples have been removed or dissolved. If infection is present or suspected, discontinue use and consult a physician. If sensitivity or irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a physician. Do not wear for more than 72 hours. Single use only. C-Section hydrogel pads may rarely cause pain, skin reaction, infection, unpleasant odor, edema, ulceration, allergic reaction or skin damage.
Store in a dry place at room temperature when not in use. Avoid direct sunlight.
